OUR SOS SEASON

Although Send'em Off Smiling is associated with the "back to school" time period, our work extends throughout the year, and we welcome cash contributions or sponsor commitments at any time.

We are actively seeking cash donations and sponsorship commitments in the period from March through June each year. At this time, Ambassador Sponsors like Manulife Financial advise us of their commitment, and we are able to more accurately estimate the number of children we will be able to help in the coming year. Because we are a charitable organization, we do not hold large reserves of funds from year to year. Each year, we estimate the number of children we will be able to assist, then work hard to ensure that we meet that commitment -- so no child goes empty handed.

In June and July, Workplace Shop and Drop programs are often active -- raising funds and shopping for children. Individual Shop and Drop sponsors will also be gathering their child profiles and shopping for their children. Throughout July, these sponsors will be returning their finished backpacks to a specified Shop and Drop Station.  Backpacks are delivered in mid-August: a busy time for our volunteers!

Tax receipts are issued in the new year, just as the new campaign is beginning. We are always looking for volunteers to help out during the year. Let us know if you can help!
